Flat Classroom- full steam ahead!
Our 8th graders are really getting into our Flat Classroom Project now- we are probably going to be working on it in both Computer Science and Computer Tech so we can get caught up. We are working with students from around the world to learn about how the Internet and Web 2.0 is affecting the Global Economy and Education.
What I/We have learned so far:
-starting up is the hardest part! Getting all the logons to work, working out the kinks of signing on and gaining access to the wiki, understanding the process- those are the major challenges so far. We hope the sailind will be a bit smoother from now on.
-Time zones are confusing! The students have been trying to wrap their heads around what time it is in the various schools we are working with. Basically, for us all to meet at the same time, somebody’s going to have to be up at 3am! One thing that has helped are the ClockLink widgets on the home page of the wiki(scroll to the bottom to see the widgets). They keep track of what the current time is in any school involved in the project.
